Did you know that Barista Pro Shop is a Member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America?

The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) is a network of thousands of organizations and industry professionals who share a common goal: To make great coffee. 

The SCAA is a resource on important issues and information relevant to the specialty coffee industry. With the SCAA, we have access to years of research on quality standards, as well as updated protocols and a wealth of resources on current issues and trends.  As a member, BPS is able to access this resource that help us help you keep up with the latest in the coffee industry. 

The SCAA also provides professional development designed in accordance with standards of higher education and afford the opportunity for professional accreditation by an established and trusted institution.  BPS is working with both the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and Barista Guild of America (BGA) to offer certification classes that will provide credibility that can help your shop with the consumer experience and establish a foundation for a distinctive and successful business. The SCAA continually reviews and develops quality standers and protocols, combining scientific method with practical application and developing guidelines that can be incorporated into your business. As coffee becomes increasingly competitive, the SCAA helps us  give you the tools to distinguish yourself and your business.

BPS not only as access to the SCAA but also two other specialty coffee associations, the Barista Guild of America (BGA) and the Roasters Guild (RG).  Both organizations offer us the tools and knowledge  so that you can achieve excellence in in your café.

The Barista Guild of America (BGA) is the largest community focused solely on the craft of the Barista.  The BGA members help build better barista culture and community in each region through jams, throwdowns, Camp Pull-A-Shot, classes, and manual brewing events.  Barista Pro Shop is currently working with the Mountain Region BGA representative to set up classes and administer BGA Level 1 (and beyond) certification.  Look for more announcements early next year.    

The Roasters Guild (RG) is a trade association dedicated to promoting and advancing the craft of coffee roasting.  The RG creates and fosters opportunities for professional roasters to have their voices heard, advance their personal knowledge through professional certification and relationship building. 

The SCAA has grown to become the world’s largest specialty coffee trade association representing more than 40 countries and 2000 dedicated members.  All of these organizations have helped both Baristas and cafés to gain credibility and to stay up to date in the specialty coffee community .
