The Doctor Is In
Thursday May 26, 2016 // By Samuel Goldring
It’s my distinct pleasure to introduce you to a new line of products from Dr smoothie. The Doctor is in and your prescription is ready. No it's not more cowbell, it's a heaping serving of nutrition in the form of Dr Smoothie’s ADDins. Available in two varieties, leafy greens and Veggie blend. At Dr Smoothie’s “everything has a healthy twist” and these healthy additions to your blended beverage will make you feel on top of the world.
But why not just blend some actual leafy greens and vegetables into your smoothie I hear you ask? Well I gave it a go and this is what I discovered. Juicing real vegetables is awesome. You get a concentrated kick of vital nutrients and energy. But, the amount of preparation, time and energy that went into making just one smoothie derived from fresh vegetables was totally unrealistic to expect in a busy customer service situation, not to mention the waste of all the plant material left over after juicing.
There’s also a small window of time in which the juice of fresh vegetables is still appetizing. If you’re a busy consumer on the go, you still deserve 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day to stay in tip top condition, but you probably don’t have the flexibility of time necessary. This is where Dr Smoothies ADDins can help you achieve the balance you need and the nutrition you deserve. Using ADDins also gives a beautifully smooth consistency to your blended drink which picky customers, especially kids expect.
So what’s inside?
The leafy greens blend is comprised of spinach and kale. Spinach is ridiculously dense with vitamin K, carotenes, vitamin C and folic acid. The rich iron and chlorophyll in spinach allows your bone marrow to generate new blood, while the lutein helps promote healthy eyesight. Spinach is one of the most alkaline producing foods, making it very useful in helping to regulate body pH. The multiple flavonoids and antioxidants found in spinach have been proven to slow down cell division in stomach cancer cells and combat skin cancer cells as well.
Kale is among the most abundant and fully loaded foods on the planet. This superfood is packed with powerful antioxidants and is an excellent source of Vitamin C. It is also one of the world’s best sources of Vitamin K. It helps lower cholesterol, which may reduce the risk of heart disease and contains 2.9g of protein per 67g. The ADDins leafy greens mix has an aroma akin to Matcha green tea and is a powder almost as fine as corn flour boasting a bright green color.
The veggie blend features spinach, kale, carrot, butternut squash, pumpkin and red bell pepper. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, giving them their orange pigment. The high amounts of beta-carotene make carrots the most common vegetable used in cancer treatment. Beta-carotene acts as a dietary antioxidant, countering the stresses of oxidation on tissue. Carotenoids found in yellow and orange vegatables may also help to reduce insulin resistance. Butternut Squash is high in vitamin A and adds flavor to this concentrate as does the red bell pepper. Butternut squash is also high in Potassium and fiber, preventing cell damage and improving energy as well as circulation.
It has a slightly more coarse consistency than the leafy greens blend and is noticeably more sweet which might need to be taken into account if you plan on using syrups with your blended drink. The aroma is pleasant and appetizing evoking memories of malted drinks before bedtime.
