Lively Libations - Floral/Herbal Lemonades

Monday July 18, 2016 // By Multiple Authors

This past Thursday Barista Pro Shop decided to take an adventure in drink creation. We all thought up some creative takes on traditional lemonade to help take the edge off these hot summer days. Some lemonades were savory and others were sweet; all of them raised my eyebrow when I was told what the ingredient list would be. However, I have to admit my brow raise was met with nothing but delight and refreshment. We have all taken some time to tell you about the drink we created and a description to give you a feel for the flavor. We hope you enjoy these recipes and help you cool down in style this summer.

Sparkling Violet Berry Lemonade by CarolineSparkling Violet Berry Lemonade:

I really enjoyed the mild flavors in this drink; it was not tart or overly sweet. The flavors played well with each other and played to each other's strengths. This drink was unassumingly refreshing harkening me back to a time before central air. This drink is going in my little black recipe book so I can wow my friends and family with this casually amazing drink.

Sparkling Violet Berry Lemonade Recipe:

Yields 1, 16 oz. Beverage

Ingredients:

Directions: To begin I got one glass measuring cup, one tall glass tumbler, a muddler or smashing implement which will fit in your measuring cup, a martini shaker, sparkling water, a jigger or ounce measuring device, violet syrup, lemonade, blueberries, raspberries and ice.
I started by measuring out the blueberries and the raspberries. Then I measured out the lavender syrup and the lemonade. Using the muddler I smooched up all the berries and mixed them in well with the lemonade. The next step was pouring the concoction into the martini shaker which already had the ice in it. Next, I placed the tall glass tumbler over the martini shaker and gave it a good smack on its bottom to seal the two containers together and gave everything a hearty shake five or six times. Take the tall glass off and pour the contents of the martini shaker through a screen and into the tall glass or a fancy glass if you like add your sparkling water. ENJOY!

Lemon Flower Soda by TiaLemon Flower Soda:

Every summer my father’s rose bushes start to bloom, his strawberries ripen, and his lemon verbena and mint start to take over the yard. As the nights cool off his garden would give the air the most amazing aroma. To combine the memories of my father’s garden and my love for white chocolate I created this refreshing yet decadent lemonade recipe. I started with one of my favorite ingredients Ghirardelli sweet ground white chocolate powder, added fresh strawberries (strawberry puree works just as well), mint leaves and Torani’s rose syrup and muddled it all together. I then add some Lemonade, Club soda and ice to the mixture and shook it up. I rimmed my wine glass with lemon sugar and poured in my pink concoction. Topped with a fresh mint leaf and strawberry I was ready to sunbathe by the pool.

Lemon Flower Soda Recipe:

Yields 1, 16 oz. Beverage

Ingredients:

Directions: Add sweet Ground white chocolate powder in a glass with a l1/2 oz. of hot water and stir thoroughly. Add syrups, puree, mint leaves, lemonade, soda water and ice into a shaker. Shake well. Strain into glass. Add ice. Garnish with Lemon sugar rim and strawberries. Enjoy!

Sage Berry Lemonade by ToriSage Berry Lemonade:

Inspired by a drink from one of my favorite restaurants, this drink makes me feel like I’m celebrating without leaving the house. This gourmet lemonade has a cocktail-like effect, made with fresh ingredients found in your own kitchen. Simply muddle fresh sage leaves and blackberries, then shake with ice and your choice of lemonade (We recommend Island Rose Premium Lemonade). You can strain it for a cleaner finish, or add extra blackberries and sage for an earthier look. If you don’t have fresh fruit to use, replace with an ounce of Monin Blackberry Puree and enjoy this gorgeous summer drink!

Sage Berry Lemonade Recipe:

Yields 1, 16 oz. Beverage

Ingredients:

Directions:First, muddle blackberries and sage together in cocktail shaker. Next, add ice and lemonade, then shake until well combined. Serve over ice in your glass of choice!

Lavender & Vanilla Bean Lemonade by DanaeLavender & Vanilla Bean Lemonade:

This version of lemonade was put together by a craving for lavender flavored lemonade. As much as I believe a simple Lavender Lemonade would be delicious, a unique recipe for a Vanilla Bean Lemonade caught my eye. I decided that vanilla bean would be the perfect warm accompaniment to the floral lavender flavor. This recipe is made with real vanilla bean and a mixture of Monin and Torani lavender syrups. While Monin has a subtle yet authentic lavender taste, Torani provided the purple coloring and a stronger sweetness to help balance out the natural tartness of the lemons. This refreshingly sweet lemonade will deliver a subtle dessert like beverage, sure to satisfy your summer afternoon cravings.

Floral flavors balance the tartness of the lemons with Monin’s authentic flavor, and Torani’s sweetness and coloring.

Lavender & Vanilla Bean Lemonade Recipe

Yields 1, 16 oz. Beverage

Ingredients:

Directions: Slice the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the vanilla bean seeds, syrups, lemonade, and ice into a shaker. Shake well. Strain into glass. Add ice. Garnish with the seeded vanilla bean and a lemon wedge.

Garden Lemonade by ElyseGarden Lemonade:

This drink is reminiscent of summers with my family in Utah and my love for Dill. This is a unique twist on your typical lemonade, being more savory than sweet. Start by muddling your herbs, fresh dill and rosemary, for maximum flavor extraction. Next, add 12 oz of Island Rose Lemonade with 4 oz of ice and pour into a cocktail shaker. My favorite way to serve this drink is in my frosted mason jar with a fresh sprig of dill, rosemary, and a round of lemon! Prepare to be refreshed!

Garden Lemonade Recipe:

Yields 1, 16 oz. Beverage

Ingredients:

Directions: Pull the leaves of Rosemary off the sprig. Put rosemary leaves, mint, and dill into your glass. Muddle all the herbs together. Add 12 oz of Lemonade and 4 oz of ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a glass. *Garnish with sprigs of rosemary and dill and a lemon wedge*
