Featured Employee - Matthew Moseley
Friday November 11, 2016 // By Dana Schlingman
Over the past few weeks, I have been enjoying getting to know Barista Pro Shop as a business as well as all of the eclectic people who define it. Learning about each individual’s personal/professional story gives me clarity about how we operate as an organization and where we are headed as we continue to grow - everyone brings such a different set of skills and experiences to the table around here. It is now my privilege to introduce you to a few of the faces behind BPS so hopefully you can catch a bit of that vision too.

Meet: Matthew Moseley | Director of BPS Marketing
How long have you worked for BPS and in what capacity?
I started with BPS on Oct. 1st, 2013, as a Marketing Representative managing social media, blogging, and updating the website. After presenting a training seminar on understanding customer demographics based on retail locations at Barista Nation in July 2014, I was able to join the BPS team sent to exhibit at Coffee Fest later that year. I have now exhibited at four Coffee Fest shows and attended two in Portland.
Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school?
I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO. While growing up in the Springs, I attended a small, private school called Evangelical Christian Academy where I graduated with a senior class of 24 students. After high school, I spent my freshman year of college at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT studying architecture. However, I later chose to move back to Fort Collins, CO to study Business Administration at Colorado State University where I completed my degree with a concentration in Marketing.
What do you like most about your job or about BPS?
Personally, I truly enjoy the industry. It’s such a diverse industry that spans so many disciplines as you follow the coffee bean from crop to cup. I also love having the opportunity to learn more about all of the facets of specialty coffee and tea. Oh, and did I mention Marketing is in charge of sampling and testing new products?
What’s your favorite type of music? Do you have a favorite band?
Although it’s hard to pinpoint just one band, a couple of my favorites are A Day to Remember and August Burns Red. I’ve always enjoyed music that’s somewhat underground and definitely not mainstream. I listen to a lot of what’s known as metalcore.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
If I’m not working, there’s a chance you’ll find me throwing down at a local TNT in Fort Collins or Denver area. When I’m not enjoying coffee in my time off, you can typically find me hanging out with my girlfriend Charlotte or watching sports with my friends. I enjoying catching concerts in Denver or heading to the Pepsi Center for a Colorado Avalanche game.
Family? Kids? Pets?
Charlotte has a dog named Mufasa who lives with us!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you be and why?
If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater house located in the woods of Pennsylvania. Just Google the place, you’ll see why.
What product would you recommend from the BPS catalog and why?
I love matcha! So, I would definitely say give some of our matcha products a whirl. Also, I really enjoy the versatility of the DaVinci Invigorators; they’re a great way to add a crisp, refreshing caffeine boost to an iced drink.
