Ghirardelli Barista Dark Mini Chips

Most folks know about our roots in baking, but some might not realize that the first product we sold (after our own baked goods) was Ghirardelli chocolate powder.  We’ll be celebrating our 19th year in business in 2013, and that equates to a lot of mochas, hot chocolates, etc that Ghirardelli has helped our customers create.

Over the years, our Ghirardelli offerings have expanded.  We now offer sauces, retail chocolate squares, cocoa powders, white chocolate powders, frappé powders, and more.  One of my favorite Ghirardelli products is one of the newest additions (even if it has been around a few years now) to their line of fine chocolates:  Barista Dark Chocolate Mini Chips.  If you’re a fan of dark chocolate, then you have to try these chips!  As the name implies, they are mini.  Their small size allows for easy melting in hot drinks.  That’s right; you use them to make mochas, hot chocolates, and other chocolate inspired signature beverages.  Don’t feel like you need to replace your usual chocolate with these chips.  I recommend adding a ‘premium dark mocha’ to your menu (especially during the cooler months) and charge a little extra for this special treat.

Now, don’t feel confined to use them strictly in hot applications.  I’ve seen shops blend them in frappés and sprinkle them on top of whipped cream.  They’re also a great addition to baked goods as they melt completely and add a decadent dark chocolate flavor.  These chocolatey little gems are sure to inspire your creativity!
