What is Matcha?
In essence, matcha is green tea. It is made from shade-grown (Camellia sinensis) tea leaves that have been air dried and stoneground into a fine powder. Historically this powder was then blended with hot water to make Japanese green tea. Japanese monks drank it to heighten their concentration and to help them remain alert during their meditative practices.
